Yancey Farms - News and Updates!

Qredit makes German news .........
Quaterback Sohn Qredit

Call me if you are interested in this top quality colt. Buyers want to sell him due to their own personal reasons.

I haven't introduced you to "Donnabelle" !
We are very pleased to have a new mare joining our broodmare herd. I keep only a few mares, and they must each one be high in quality, deep in pedigree and full of top sporthorse qualities.
This is the mare "DONNABELLE" . I first saw her some while back, but the timing was not right. When she came into my life again, I was determined to have her. She is a wonderful lady.
?? Pedigree??? ....
DONNERHALL - PLAISIR D'AMOUR - FURIOSO II

She is in foal to the fancy young stallion SARKOZY (Sandro Hit - Weltmeyer - Bogenschutze)Here is his video:

Young Lusitano, BRANCA LEAO
See post below!
07/08/2008
Here I go again!
In my constant passion for fabulous riding horses, I have added a very special young Lusitano stallion, BRANCA LEAO (White Lion) from Brazil. My one wonderful riding horse is my 8 year old Kiger mustang gelding, TWISTER, but I have nothing young coming up. The one I was saving for that job was the Kiger that was struck by lightening last summer.
Anyway, love the Lusos for their incredible minds, comfortable gaits and strong, sound structures. Branca Leao will come over soon and I will start him under saddle this winter. He is only 2 1/2 years old, having been born in their Spring, November.
Just had to share him with you guys! I am really excited.

WYNTON chosen for World Championships!
We anticipated that WYNTON would qualify to represent The Netherlands for the 2008 World Championships for Young Dressage Horses in Verden, Germany, July 31 - August 3, 2008

We continue to be proud of WYNTON and his rider Madeleine Witte-Vrees. Our belief in WYTNON is being validated. He has had a very successful breeding season, both in Holland and Oldenburg - as well as the U.S. We look forward to some very fancy foals by him next year. Thank you to all of you who also believed in him and chose him for your mares this season!

Oldenburg Verband inspection photos
We had a nice day, with intermittent showers that kept the temperature bearable.
This super filly made her dance in the arena with the raindrops, and received a premium award. This is WIAMINA by DIAMOND HIT out of WARTINA by Warsteiner x TB. We chose Diamond Hit last year because of his powerful hindquater, and that I thought Wartina is the type of mare that suits Diamond Hit. She is feminine and 1/2 TB.
You can clearly see that the cross was magic! Look at the wonderful hindquater on her, and her excellent uphill movement. She is a VERY pretty filly and will mature into someone's dream ride. She is offered for sale by the Owners Antje and Glen Blahnik. Please contact me for pricing and more photos.

BEL AURORA , always the center of attention!
Here is our BABY BEL ... as always she strutted her stuff and let all know that she is special! Having been born last Nov. 17th, she is much older than the rest. Still, she made her legendary sire ARGENTINUS proud by earning her premium award. She is out of BELROSE (Rubinstein - Inshallah)
06/24/2008
QREDIT is growing up!
Here is our first born QUATERBACK son, QREDIT. He is out of our homebred mare DREAM RUBINA (Dream of Glory - Rubinstein)
He showed extreme presence in the ring, with ground covering, uphill gaits. His correctness of conformation was duly noted by the judges as well as his wonderful freedom and suspension of movement. He was awarded premium status along with his brother and 2 sisters.

ROMEO by Romanov - fancy colt also FOR SALE
NEW VIDEO CLIP:

http://www.youtube.com/v/S4nkK2VuVoI

With his leggy elegance, ROMEO wowed the judges and earned his premium award at our recent GOV inspection.
I had shown you a photo of him shortly after he was born, and he is maturing into a wonderful colt.
His dam is a Canadian Spothorse mare named "So Eager", who had come down to HITS a few years ago as a young jumper. Her sire was FUERST IGOR, an Oldenburg stallion that was licensed and performance tested in Germany before his early importation into Canada. (Feinbrand - Harlekin - Kronprinz)
The dam sire was the Holsteiner stallion FLIPPER (Landgraf - Fokus II) He was a GP showjumper w/ rider Jay Hayes , with top placings in Canada and US including CSI - W at Spruce Meadows, Royal Winter Fair , National Horse Show,& more.
2nd dam's sire was the KWPN stallion ZUCARLOS (by Oldenburg sire INSCHALLAH). He also was a GP showjumper with Jay Hayes and was a memeber of the Canadian Olympic Team at Barcelona, winner Nation's Cup at Royal Winter Fair, 2nd in President's Cup CSI - Wahington International, and multiple wins/top placings at CSI -W.
Even though the mare has strong jumper influence in the bottom line, her movement shows powerful suspension. This movement was harnessed and chanelled into dressage breeding with the use of the excellent producer ROMANOV.
ROMEO is offered for sale by his breeders Dr. Corey and Chris Miller. Contact me for further info.

QUETZAL by Quaterback out of Reina H
So, this is the twin brother to QUINCARA! He is a well put together package of beauty and movement. The photo says it all - he has a powerful hindquater with extreme uphill movement and great freedom through his shoulders. With his charming face and brilliant energy, he earned his premium award for the day.
We were schooled by Holly Simensen on what "Quetzal" is - a beautiful and rare bird from ???? (Oops, I didn't listen very well!)
Quetzal is proudly owned (and named!) by Karen Reilly.
Oh, I should make it clear that this is his ET Mommy! His biological dam is my most excellent producer REINA H (Rubinstein - Herbststurm).
06/24/2008
Don't forget the Weser-Ems ponies!
We also hosted quite a few ponies at the inspection. Heather Luing brought 3 mares, in foal to various Weser-Ems stallions.
Although we did not have any little foals this year, we did have one yearling by HILKEN'S BLACK DELIGHT. This is MIDNIGHT SURPRISE, who you may remember belongs to our own "Miss Cookie" , photographer and groom par excellence!
The judge's comments on Surprise were NO surprise! He is very correct, and has a very good way of going. He is so handsome in his shiny black jacket and should make a super riding prospect.
Cookie offers him for sale. Anyone want a special nice Weser-Ems riding pony??
06/24/2008
Our precious QUINCARA : Quaterback x Reina H
Our baby girl was the opener for the 2008 German Oldenburg inspection on June 18th. She may be delicate still, after an early start at 310 days (!), but her movement is breathtaking. Her quality, correctness and elegant movement earned her premium award.
As Miss Cookie gets our photos to me, I will put them up of the other foals as well.
06/22/2008
QUINELISE : Quaterback x Preference
Here is the "ballerina" of the day. This is the filly Quinelise by Quaterback out of our Preference by Jonggor's Weyden. The judges were smitten by her - it is hard NOT to be. She is so beautifully chiseled, full of suspension, balance, freedom of movement. And she has the most incredible dappling gene starting to express itself. She earned her premium award from the judges and their comment of "favorite foal of the day".
06/22/2008
Does this remind you of anyone?
Do you remember "Hot Jazz" from last year? That was Tamarinde's Hotline colt . The first time out, he gave us one of these levades too! If you scroll WAAAY down on this page, you can see his levade.
It is just amazing how Tamarinde has stamped her foals in her image. It is unusual to have such a strong producer in a mare; two clones in 2 foals. I am so delighted that I made the decision to keep her. She is carrying her own Florestan foal for next year, and has a Quaterback ET on the way also.
06/22/2008
View of one of the first fillies of WYNTON!
This fancy filly shows the active hind leg and free front of WYNTON as well as his exceptional beauty. Dam is a DeNiro daughter and the breeders are the breeders of WYNTON, Grietje and Hans Jansen in Holland.
06/15/2008
And here is Quincara's FULL brother!
From the same embryo flush of REINA H last year, came this strapping colt! Amazing, no? Here is a handsome, strong, manly colt at THREE days! Out of a humble little TB mare, who Vets thought was having a "small" foal! She did a trooper's job, and he arrived fat and healthy with exceptional legs and bones just like his sire. I continue to be so positively impressed with the stamping ability of Quaterback. Same head, same neck set high at the poll, same tremendouse shoulders, same hindquaters same way the front legs come out of the shoulders.... just incredible.
We will put photos up when he finishes unfolding! He still has a ways to go, having had all these legs scrunched up in a small framed mare. Cudos to Peterson-Smith Equine Repro for providing us with these two Quaterback foals safely and happily on the ground. We shipped the embryos down there is the pocket of Jack, our local courier service man! This year they gave us a super buckskin QH mare that is carrying the Quaterback embryo out of our Tamarinde. Should be fun!

Precious QUINCARA at one week!
Our little preemie is coming along, although I don't think her Mom is the best millker. I hope she will start eating soon, so that I can give her some milk pellets.
But she is too precious!

QUINOA at one year
This is the German Brandenburg filly QUINOA by QUATERBACK out of a PARADIESVOGEL - FREUDENTAENZER mare at one year.
05/12/2008
QUERIDA 1 year
This is the German Brandenburg filly QUERIDA by QUATERBACK out of a SANDRO HIT - PARADIESVOGEL mare.
05/12/2008
QUERIDA for sale now
Yes, it is time to offer the two QUATERBACK girls that I brought in from Germany last Fall. They had arrived in their winter woolies, and I wanted to watch them bloom into the Spring and enjoy them a while. They are both delightful, and exceedingly talented, young mares. They have bright futures, for there are few that have the movement, conformation and type of these two , as they are stamped in the image of their exciting sire, QUATERBACK. They have great value for their breeding potential as well as competition careers.
QUERIDA is a beautiful, captivating creature. She is QUATERBACK - SANDRO HIT - PARADIESVOGEL. She has effortless, expressive movement with a bright character.
It is hard to claim qualities better than the other; both fillies are so equally made. QUERIDA is accordingly priced for her high quality. I am hopeful that she will go to a serious minded rider so that she will have the chance to fully develop her talents.
05/11/2008
QUINOA For Sale now
I am so impressed with how both of these Quaterback fillies are growing up. They really have not gone through a gawky stage, and have maintained excellent self carriage and freedom of movement. Right now our ground is as hard as concrete, yet they still have a nice suspension. I would love to see them get into hands that will chanel their talents, and hopefully get them out to shows. They are both very high quality fillies, with the best of blood from the Haupt Gestuet Brandenburg. Both fillies were finalists in the German Foal Championships. They carry their brand on the RIGHT side, an honor bestowed only to those who are bred by the Haupt Gestuet.
Quinoa is slightly taller than Querida. She is very engaged with the world; doesn't miss a thing. She has a pleasant demeanor and is very willing and loving.
Her pedigree is QUATERBACK - PARADIESVOGEL - FREUDENTAENZER (all Westfalen blood)
I have additional photos. Email me if you have interest. Price is consistent with their quality and cost of importation.

Well, look who is safely here!!
This is Quincara, our special little wonder filly by Quaterback out of Reina H - by embryo transfer.
Her story is that her ET Momma presented with placentitis a few months ago, complete with dripping milk, etc. We rallied and fought hard to keep that foal in there. Finally , on day 310, that was all Momma could do, and she had Baby Cara! So, here is Baby Cara 2 days after being born! So, 312 days old!! We are amazed that all her parts are there! We have had to do 2 plasma transfers so far, but she is feisty and doing well. I think she is beautiful, with another exquisite face by Quaterback. It will be fun to watch her grow!

A mixed and colorful herd..
The Kigers add some great color to the herd. Baby Bel is right with the pack, even though her Mom is no where in sight! The Kiger mares always make sure to take care of all the babies.
03/23/2008
A little "GIRL TALK" !
The Kigers provide a lot of entertainment around here. These are two sisters discussing whose toy that is!
If anyone out there needs a super neat Kiger, I have a few fillies for sale.
03/23/2008
Here is QREDIT at one month - QREDIT is sold......
Hard to believe that a month has passed since the exciting arrival of our first homebred Quaterback foal. QREDIT is so special, and a carbon copy of his sire; same face, same legs, some effortless movement with suspension and swing.

Thank you so much for the interest that has been shown in Qredit. He has been sold. We have decided on a special home for him, and he will be moving to the East Coast after weaning.
04/05/2008
Baby Bel at 4 months already!
I know it has been a long time since I have shown you Baby Bel, real name "Bel Aurora". She is my special girl by ARGENTINUS out of BELROSE (RUBINSTEIN - INSCHALLAH - FURIOSO II)
She is plucky, delightful and a bright spot each day.
03/22/2008
Here he is! The first QUATERBACK in North America!
This is "QREDIT", at 3 days. As you see, he is a spitting image of his sire, down to the exact same funny blaze down his face! He is very tall, good bones, great feet, muscling. He has a nice, easy , loose way of moving, and is built uphill with strong legs and well set neck. So far, I could not be more pleased with his quality.

His dam is our homebred Dream of Glory - Rubinstein mare, "Dream Rubina".
02/27/2008
Let me introduce you to ...."BENETTON DREAM " -Hanoverian
While at the Fall German Bundeschampionats, I caught this gorgeous stallion out the corner of my eye. I went to investigate who he was and followed his progress to the winning of the 3 y.o. Championship. His scores were amazing... and his walk unsurpassed!
trot: 9.5
canter 9.5
walk 10.00
conformation 9.0
overall impression 9.5
Final score 9.5 !!

He went on to win his 30 days test at Schlieckau with high scores again in his basic gaits, and a 9.5 by both test riders for his rideability.

Earlier, in August, he was Champion Hanoverian of the 3 y.o. stallions at the World Championships for Young horses in Verden with the highest score of 9.0

So already this accomplished young stallion has made great impressions.
Another great impression is his super pedigree:

BRENTANO II - ROTSPON - DAVIGNON - WELTMEYER - SENDER - DUKTUS - DUELLANT

He is a tall, leggy, elegant and beautiful type. Maybe he can add something to your breeding program?

I looked for a special Hanoverian to offer Hanoverian mare owners, and believe I have found one in BENETTON DREAM.

First doses are on the way. Introductory price $700 (semen was frozen by my most trusted technician there.)

Don't believe all you hear - more on the Carol Austin story
It was brought to my attention by Schockemoehle that there seems to be someone trying to undermine my reputation by insinuating that I am shorting breeders on the amount of straws per dose. This has never happened, and it will never happen. If I am sent 3 straws per dose , that's what I send out. If I am sent 8 straws per dose, that's what I send out. If I am sent one straw per dose (as was the case for many years with horses from Blue Hors), that's what I sent out. But, I have never deducted one single straw from anyone's shipment. We will get to the bottom of this, and find out who is doing this. I have based my horse business for 33 years on complete honesty, and with the best interests of the mare owners always in mind. I do not know what this situation is,and can only guess the motives of who ever is behind it, but we will find out. I keep an accurate log of exactly who I sell the semen to, how many doses, how many straws and the collection dates that I send. I know to whom we ship ..... and wonder if it might be the Vet that is shorting the mare owners, if indeed ANY one has actually been shorted - for it certainly has not been me. I will not accept this affront to my reputation and I want to assure all my customers that this will be dealt with. Paul Schockemoehle stands behind me 100 % and has no doubt of my integrity.

Thanks for your time,
Judy

*** UPDATE on the "Let's smear Judy's reputation"

situation. I have gotten to the bottom of who has been spreading the false accusations, and I am so disheartened to say that it is Carol Austin, who runs Superior Equine Sires. I was sent proof in an email that she had sent to a stallion station. A direct quote from her email:

"She buys full doses from suppliers, and often provides only ONE straw as a breeding dose to her clients. So, then she is able to have cheap prices because she is selling only 1/3 of a dose. I consider this a dishonest practice.

Yours, Carol"

Where is the WORLD did she come up with this? In her imagination I guess.
This is a blatant lie and is a libelous statement.... I have written her and asked her to provide me with ONE person who can prove such an outrageous claim. I have told her that , if she can provide me with proof that I have done this, I will publicly apologoze. If she cannot, then SHE is to publicly apologize to me and to ALL of you, and to the stallion owners to whom she has spread her lies.

I have had enough of this nonsense, and am putting this right out here to stop the ridiculous and malicious rumors that she is spreading. I am not the only broker that she tries to bully and attack. This is going to stop now!

I don't spend my time trying to run down others, I just try to do a better JOB than the others and I pay attention to my own life, not anyone else's. And, my prices are not "cheap" - they are fair. I work for the benefit of the mare owners in the U.S.

I apologize to all of you now, and beg your indulgence in this posting. I just believe this is the only way to deal with such matters - out in the open, for I have nothing to hide, and am not making accusations, only quoting what she has already written.
I hope that it will not be necessary to pursue this through legal channels, but I understand from our family lawyer that it is now an option, since she has used the internet to pass along her concocted lies.
I thank all of you for the support that I have received over the past days... it means the world to me to know that I have earned your respect and trust.
Peace out,
Judy !

Wynton wins it all in Den Bosch !
We are SO proud of WYNTON, who has prevailed in the prestigious KWPN stallion competitions! The finals were held today, Friday, Feb. 1st. He came into the competition 1.5 points in the lead, and faced his toughest rival , Westpoint. He scored an 88, giving him a final ranking of 350 points over the 4 competitions, with a total final ranking of 350 points over Westpoint's 348 points!
Today's win came one day after being released from quarantine for freezing semen for us in North America!
Congratulations to Wynton, his breeders Hans & Grietje Jansen, and co-owner Nico Witte... and big kudos to Nico's lovely wife Madeleine Witte-Vrees, Wynton's capable rider! Well done gang!
Don't miss out on this talented stallion this year. Our shipment should be here in the next couple of weeks.

He also was licensed for breeding by the German Oldenburg Verband, which we anticipated.

Here is Eurodressage's report:

First pregnancy of the year confirmed
Good ole BELROSE. She gave birth to Baby Bel on Nov. 17th, and I waited until after the first of the year to breed her. One dose of QUATERBACK semen, and she is in foal again. Gotta love mares like this!

I am hoping that this sets the tone for this new breeding year.... not just for me, but for all of us. LAst year was a tough one!

Her great sire, ARGENTINUS, is gone......
I feel genuinely sad, hearing the news last night that Argentinus is gone. I guess I thought that a legend as grand as he is would never die. He lives on in BEL AURORA, our filly that was born a month ago.....and my magnificent colt Arrick Harper, as well as Bella Argentina and Olivia. I cherish every drop of Argentinus blood that we have on this farm.

**** UPDATE ON PRICE****
We received word today from Klatte's that the price of the Argentinus semen has drastically changed - to be expected. It will now sell by the dose, and converts to $3500 PER dose.
It's a giant impact.
12/27/2007
New shipment in ....look at our old friend, RUIZ SOLER!
We safely received our early shipment of QUATERBACK, FIDERTANZ, DE NIRO, CONTENDRO, SIR DONNERHALL, FAREWELL III, BALOU DU ROUET, SAN AMOUR and our old friend, RUIZ SOLER!
There are quite a few breders still in the U.S. that LOVE Ruiz Soler, for the high quality hunter offspring that he produces. Heinrich Klatte still had doses of frozen left and we offer them at $450 a dose. This is a super bargain, as the semen of Ruiz Soler was always awesome.
Hunter breeders pay attention!

Westpoint was second with 88 points, and Rock Forever (Rockwell x Landstreicher) was third with 86 points.
You can imagine that we are very happy with this result. On december 27th the last meeting will be held in Zuidbroek.

Judy, we wish you a Merry Christmas and you hear from us after the third meeting.

Grietje en Hans

And today's report on EURODRESSAGE said:
Madeleine Witte-Vrees won the L-level class with the black Wynton (by Jazz x Matador II) who was praised for his electric hind leg. Wynton scored 89 points and beat Pavo Cup champion Westpoint (Jazz x Michelangelo)

Semen freezing of WYNTON is on track, and we should have our shipment early Febuary.

A first look at the QUATERBACK sisters! This is QUINOA..
Quinoa is out of a SPS mare Graziella by Paradiesvogel (West.) - Freudentaenzer (West.)
She was in the finals of the S. German Foal Championships and is an accurate representative of the quality of movement and type that Quaterback is siring.
I feel very fortunate to have the chance to have these two outstanding Quaterback fillies over here, to show the high caliber of offspring that we can expect from Quaterback. At 9 months, both fillies arequite tall, leggy and very elegant moving, with suppleness and power.
12/04/2007
This is "QUERIDA" by QUATERBACK
Querida is the first QUATERBACK filly that "picked" me in Brandenburg. Like her sister, QUINOA, she too was a finalist in the S. German Foal Championships. She is out of SPS HEDDA by Sandro Hit - Paradiesvogel (West.) - Fruehlingsbote (West.)
She is the same body type as her sire, with his lovely topline, pretty face, and long, very correct legs. She also moves through her body and up and through her shoulder exactly like he does.
These fillies are very homogenous, and should give you a clear indication of the siring power of Quaterback!
Like QUINOA, Querida was born early March 2007, so is 9 months old. They are both very good sized, leggy and just super correct.......and THE BEST characters and temperaments.

WOW! WYNTON continues his winning ways !!!
I am TELLING you.....this young stallion WYNTON is something special. (Besides that he is TAMARINDE's brother!!)

Today's news from his breeder/owner couldn't be better:

Judy,

here is good news from Holland. Today was the first meeting in the Stallion Competition. Wynton WON with 88.5 points!!
Westpoint (Jazz x Michelangelo), who was the winner in the Pavo-cup, was now SECOND to WYNTON with 87,5 points.
Winningmood (Prado x Donnerwind) third with 86 points, Lord Leatherdale fourth with 85,5 and Karolus Van Wittenstein fifth with 80 points.

The comment of the jury was very enthusiastic. "We have seen a group of highly talented stallions".

WYNTON received a 9 for his walk, a 9 for trot, 8,5 for canter, 9 for suppleness and 9 for his appearance. Not bad is !! it? But as You can see the competition is very strong. On december 14th the second meeting is in Weert.

best wishes from Grietje and Hans.

Report from Eurodressage:
Wynton, Vivaldi, United and Dreamcatcher were the winners of the first leg of the 2007-2008 KWPN/KNHS Stallion Competition Series taking place this winter with a finals at the 2008 KWPN Stallion Licensing in Den Bosch in February 2008.

I am "bumping up" this topic as we draw near to new season:
Let me make something clear about my "frozen" business...
I am often asked if I can bring in particular stallion's frozen semen from Germany, Holland, etc. The answer is "Sure I can", but that is not the nature of my business.

I do not offer hundreds of stallions....I only REPRESENT those stallions that I admire, am personally familiar with and wish to use in my own program. Many of you have taken advantage of my years of knowledge and success to help you choose a stallion for your mare. That knowledge can only come from hands on experience, which I do not have with all the hundreds of stallions who are available through frozen semen in Europe. I have always given, and will continue to offer personalized service, and you can be sure of getting my voice on the phone when you call.
The difference between the way I do business and any other frozen semen import service in this country, is that Yancey Farms is the ONLY frozen semen importation service in the U.S. that keeps inventory all year round. We maintain substantial inventory and can usually ship from one day to the next. I personally visit the stallions in my program, and adjust the roster from year to year, as I evaluate the offspring of the stallions. Some stallions are deleted from the list if I am not pleased with what I see.

I have certain "HOT PICKS" for the year....this year's "HOT PICKS" are QUATERBACK and WYNTON. Proven sires, such as DON SCHUFRO, DIAMOND HIT,SIR DONNERHALL and SANDRO HIT remain high on the list. The young stallions FAREWELL III and FIDERTANZ continue to impress me with the quality of their offspring.

I keep a few jumper sires, and can order anything you want from Schockemoehle's, Klatte's , Sosath's, Seifert's .....
I have been importing and shipping frozen equine semen since 1988. I have hundreds of satisfied customers, who experience high conception rates in their mares, and have the foals to prove it. Feel free to call me during normal business hours with any questions you may have. You might want to check the FAQs page too.
Thanks!
Judy

New video of Quaterback up
From the Oldenburg stallion show Nov. 24th, there is some new footage of Quaterback, taken by Stephanie Law and put up on the Oldenburg Horse Breeders Society website:
http://www.oldenburghorse.com/2007-OldenburgStallionShow-Quaterback.wmv

News is, from everyone who saw him go again, is that he is more spectacular than ever. I thought so , and told you same, when I saw him privately back in Sept. Fabulous, fabulous horse!

My two fillies from him are just wonderful, and absolutely stamped by their sire. Photos soon, I promise! "Cookie" has been A.W.O.L.!
11/30/2007
Her name is Bel Aurora.....
and here she is , fluffed up, at three days of age! As with all the Argentinus babies, they LOVE their canters! (So do I !)
11/21/2007
Look what we have- First foal of the new foaling season!!!
It was a double binky morning for 10 hours old Baby Bel ! Born a bit early (she was due on Nov. 28th), here we have our FILLY by my favorite ARGENTINUS out of BELROSE (Rubinstein - Inschallah). Baby Bel's arrival was much anticipated, but wouldn't you just know that Bel would choose our ONLY cold night to have an early filly! It froze here in Ocala last night (!) and we pulled out the trusty old baby binkies! I couldn't be more delighted with yet another filly by Argentinus our of Belrose.(Our Vet, Corey Miller, had correctly sexed the filly at 64 days) I still have her coming 3 year old full sister, although that one is a chestnut. This Baby Bel looks just like Argentinus.

That was at 1 a.m., and at 3 a.m. we took delivery of our two German fillies by QUATERBACK that arrived safe, sound and VERY sane. I will try to take a photo of them later when I turn them out for some sun.

And this PONY can jump!!
I didn't forget my pony breeders while I was searching for new stallions in Germany! This is a wonderful pony stallion , "VOYAGER" . You can see his stats posted below. He is charming, athletic and multi-talented. He has won the Bundeschampionats in both dressage and versatility, where his jumping skills shined.
He is a consistent producer of typey, high quality foals, and should be an excellent addition to our pony stock over here.
Frozen semen will be available Feb. 2008. Price $450 per dose.

Particular information about WYNTON
I guess you can tell that I am particularly keen on this young stallion. Well, just read his stats, and you will begin to get the picture of just what a special stallion he is:

Here is the report of the jury for the 70 DAYS TEST: "
Wynton is a good developed, uphill modeled stallion, with very good capacity as a riding horse. The motherline consists out of pure German top-dressage stallions. Father Jazz (keur) is extremely succesful in Holland with 8 licensed sons, 187 star-mares, 77 keur-mares, 50 elite-mares and 1 preferent-mare, which is an extremely high score. This stallion has a very good attitude and is very easy to ride. Wynton has a very good technique in his legs, a good posture and a very good balance.

The notes are: walk 8.5; trot 9; canter 9; suppleness 8; posture and balance 8.5; ridability 8.5; capacity as a dressage-horse 9. He was the CHAMPION in the 70days test this spring.

Wynton was the vice-champion in the prestigious PAVO-Cup for 4 year old horses which can be compared with the Bundeschampionat in Germany.

Lord Leo........... 5 months
This is such an impressive, powerful moving colt. He has an absolutely tremendous hip and push from behind, combined with good freedom through the shoulder. He will be someone's dream come true under saddle, and I sure hope he gets a chance at the Young Horse competitions.
He is by LORD SINCLAIR out of my good Dutch mare PREFERENCE . You can read more about her on the "Our Horses" page.
Call me if you have interest in this super colt.
10/24/2007
Such an honor....
We were treated to a private showing of Quaterback under saddle with Christian Flamm riding! It was breathtaking, watching this talented , supple, powerful youngster with his super rider. They had him all braided and waiting for our arrival, and I stood in the middle of the arena and saw every step he took. And, boy, were they magnificent steps! He is still nothing short of spectacular, and I have never seen a stallion that had such energy flowing in perfect circle through his body. He just picks himself off the ground when he starts to move. He and the young WYNTON (see post below) and , without question, my two favorite picks for the upcoming breeding season.
I saw foals of Quaterback and see how he impacts them, so I believe he will become a stallion of quality and excellent reputation. I am proud that we have our own first foal crop coming from him this next season.
We will have our shipment of semen ready for import before Christmas, and I can take orders now, since we know the pricing schedule.
10/03/2007
Well, here we are in Holland!
That is a photo of me with Tamarinde's little brother "WYNTON"! As I reported before my trip, I would visit the breeders of Tam and meet Wynton. It turned out to be the highlight of my trip! This photo was taken by Grietje Jansen. She and her husband, Hans are the breeders of Tam and Wynton, and have two more full siblings at home.
Wynton won his KWPN Stallion licensing, and was Reserve Ch. of the prestigious PAVO Cup, where Tam was 7th in her year. He is a top quality stallion that I am very proud and excited to introduce to the U.S., as well as Germany. He will be prsented for licensing to the German Oldenburg Verband by my request, so that breeders other than Dutch can take advantage of his special bloodlines and genetic qualities.
His pedigree is Jazz - Matador II - Rubinstein - Welt As. I met his (and Tam's) dam AND grand dam, both venerable older ladies.
We will have video of him available soon, and will have frozen semen for next season. His gaits are pure, and he has 3 VERY good gaits. With his quick, active hind leg, and great freedom and swing through his whole body, he is a picture of elegance , suppleness and elasticity. I tell you, he put to shame a lot of horses that I saw at the Bundeschampionats. We need this extra Jazz blood, still blending the excellent attributes of Matador II, Rubinstein and Welt As.
Over the next week, I will add some more news from my trip. I traveled from Holland, through Germany to Brandenburg to visit Quaterback, then up to Denmark as planned. I have personal observations from the Bundeschampionats which helped me rethink my frozen semen program. More later....
09/10/2007
Could he be any more handsome?
Of course, I think that Tamarinde is one of the most beautiful mares I have ever seen.....so I was pleasantly surprised when I found Wynton to be the same type of handsome creature.
09/10/2007
Wynton after work
His conformation is much like Tamarinde's, but obviously in stallion form. He is very leggy and light in his movements, with the same rythym and regularity as Tam has. He has the same active, quick hind leg. He will broaden and fill out as he finishes maturing, but will no doubt remain a very tall, handsome stallion.
09/10/2007
Quite unique Lord Leo.....
And here is peaceful Leo (Lord Sinclair out of Preference by Weyden)This colt has been such a joy since the day he was born. He is a real showman....loves attention and when he entered that show ring, he grew several inches! He is so impressive and so powerful. He has the wonderful , active hind leg that Preference puts on all of her foals. That quick hind leg, combined with his huge powerful hip, creates amazing energy and uphill movement with great suspension. He was duly awarded Premium status with the German Oldenburg Verband.
07/31/2007
And THIS colt was the highlight of the day!
This is Arrick Harper, by the great stallion ARGENTINUS out of a homebred mare from four generations of my breeding program. I am exceedingly pleased with the quality of movement of this colt. His presence is obvious, and the power he has, combined with his fluid suppleness, swing and elasticity is breathtaking. Judge Tobias Henke likened him to the fabulous dressage stallion Augustus de Starke, as they are both from the mold of their sire, Argentinus. Arrick lifts off the ground and shows great freedom and correctness of gaits. I bred the mare hoping to produce a super fancy hunter....but Arrick has surpassed that by far. Arrick will be managed in partnership for the Young Horse Championships.
You can imagine how pleased I am to have such a wonderful Argentinus foal - my all time favorite sire! Arrick earned his Premium award from the judges along with high praise.
07/29/2007
Hot Jazz at his GOV inspection
And here is Mr. Fancy pants! I was so very satisfied with the brilliant, confident movement of Hot Jazz (Hotine out of Tamarinde by Jazz - Matador II - Rubinstein - Welt as ). His supple, ground coverin stride also shows incredible suspension.
Too bad that Owners, Pat & Linda Parelli could not have been here to witness this colt's first major award...his Premium plaque from the German Oldenburg Verband.
07/28/2007
"Hometown Boy makes good!"
Here is RASTA (Rotspon - Rouletto - Don Gregory). You may remember that I bred him, sold him out to California to Pamela Bailey, and she has raised him and just done a super job with his showing. He was licensed as a breeding stallion by the German Oldeburg Verband last Fall.
His owner writes this:

"This is a link with Stacey on him, http://www.sheriscottphotography.com/galleries/gold_st_cdi_07_s-z/index.htm
go to Zwergel and Rasta, he got his 82.4 Materialle and I was happy to see that an assistant rider can go out showing, and do really well, he is not a one horse guy, he keeps his mind, mares in season, horses coming at him. She also just scored a 7.74 FEI five year old. I have wanted to keep it very diverse this year, funner, and with a greater scope, so he does not have three hard years, he did so much last year. We are trying for the Horse of the Year Materialle, so far 79 median, need one more score his high being 82,4.""

So, I am very proud of Rasta, Pamela, Rasta's trainers Christine Rivlin-Henke and Stacey Zwergel.
07/25/2007
Good news from Northern California!
Do you remember SIRRINGO from a couple of years ago? He was the first SIR DONNERHALL foal to be born in the U.S., and out of my good mare REINA H (Rubinstein - Herbststurm - Pregel)
Here he is , GRAND CHAMPION of the "Shelly Siegel" Breed Show where he prevailed over all the older horses. That's a good feat out there in California. Sirringo won in a class of over 14, then went on to win the Grand Championship.
He is in the ownership of Pamela Bailey, who also owns our spectacular "RASTA" ! She is a busy lady, keeping both these boys in show shape, getting them out there, and winning . This is good news for Oldenburg breeders here in the U.S. , when these home bred foals show their quality against so many imnports!
07/25/2007
Another sad good-bye...... Skyrocket
Just yesterday evening about 6:30, I was looking at Skyrocket, thinking how beautiful he was, and counting the months until I could start to ride him.........and this morning he was gone.
Apparently he was struck by lightening in another bad storm last night. I just can't believe it. In 32 years, I have never lost a horse to lightening. I read about others' losses, but to experience it here is surreal. All his pasture mates were still standing guard this morning when Antonio went to feed, and he immediately knew something was terribly wrong. Such a sad year for so many of us.
Hug your horse right now!
07/22/2007
Look how LEO is growing!
Have you ever seen such an impressive hip line? He is so powerful from behind, and uphill. And his walk is a 12 !! He continues to be a wonderfully easy going guy, finding no problems in life. He is such a pleasure.

LORD LEO is by LORD SINCLAIR out of PREFERENCE and, as all colts are here, is for sale.

Looks like Miss Cookie was having fun in her photo editing program, no??
07/31/2007
This is about PAPERWORK !
Heads up...........I am getting a LOT of mare owners asking for breeding certificates from last year that I have already filled out and sent. I don't like to do things twice, so let me clue you in on how I send them. When I make the shipment of semen to your Vet, I put a manilla envelope in with a big print announcement on the outside that says:
"In this packet you will find:
-Thawing instructions for the frozen semen
-INSEMINATION CERTIFICATE to document the breeding for foal registration - RETAIN this document in your Client's file, complete upon insemination of the mare, and RETURN to your Client when they pick up the mare"
AND
A return Fed X airbill for the prompt return of my shipper. Please be respectful of others who are waiting for their shipment also by sending the shipper home right away."

I STAPLE the breeding certificate to the thawing protocol, which HOPEFULLY, your Vet will read!

So, maybe , if you know that the breeding certificate for your mare is with your Vet, you can remember to ask him to sign it and return it to you.

Owners of KWPN mares do not need a certificate from me, you can download from your registry's website; same for Swedish. I mainly send out GOV and AHS. I do not send out ISR paperwork.
Hope this helps you to be better informed on the papertrail!
Thanks

HOT JAZZ sells........
HOT JAZZ and ARRICK share a moment - best friends.
Yesterday's news around here was that this very special black colt, HOT JAZZ, (HOTLINE out of TAMARINDE) was sold to a very special horseman.

PAT PARELLI just had to have him for his very own! One of these days , we will see Pat riding HOT JAZZ in his tours all around the world. He was totally taken with the colt's supple movement, super bright mind and winning personality. He can tell that this is an excellent athlete with a tremendous capability to learn. It is a wonderful opportunity for this wonderful colt. Thank you Linda and Pat.

Dream Rubina has good news to share!
She has given us definite proof as to the fertility of the QUATERBACK semen. We ultrasounded twins yesterday, and it broke my hear to have to take one away :-(

Also, I want to tell you that I am going to start putting up photos of 2007 foals from our collection of stallions here in the states. Many thanks to the Owners for sending them in, and I apologize for taking so long to get them up. This is a one girl show down here, and I can just do my best.

My Argentinus girls!
British photographer Bob Langrish was here for his annual Spring visit, and captured some beautiful moments on the back hill that holds the young stock. I'll bet that this photo ends up in one of his calendars.
In this photo you see three glorious fillies with Argentinus in common:
From left, the red bay is "Olivia" (Don Kennedy - Argentinus), 2 yrs. ; the chestnut is "Bella Argentina" (Argentinus - Rubinstein)also 2 yrs. ; and the third bay is "Raissa" (Florencio - Argentinus) 1 yr. You can just see the eye of "Bardot", yearling filly (Don Schufro - Rubinstein) I have more photos that I will share soon.
Remember, you can click on the photo and make it come up in another window larger.
04/03/2007
I keep forgetting to show you.....
Do you recognize THIS horse?? Maybe you have noticed this ad recently in some of your horse magazines.

This is TAMARINDE, making her modeling debut for Merial Pharmaceutical Company in their recent ad campaign for Recombitek, West Nile Virus vaccine.

Our NEW ARGENTINUS colt!
Please welcome , at 24 hours old!, our new son of ARGENTINUS out of my homebred mare, "HEART'S AFIRE" (HARPER - FALKE - BEAUTE' - HERBSTSTURM - PREGEL.....several generations of my original Trakehner breeding program)
I have named him ARRICK HARPER, and he is an absolute clone of his sire, down to the exact same markings....star and all. He is a big colt, with awesome legs and kind disposition. Being born at 330 days, I was expecting a filly, but that shows what I get for thinking!
03/02/2007
Hotline - Jazz - Matador II - Rubinstein - Welt As..........
quite a pedigree for this young colt to live up to. But, HOT JAZZ is beginning to show his elegant, supple, reaching, soft movement. He is a gorgeous colt. I will keep you updated on photos!
03/02/2007
Well, look what we have here!!!.........
This is a brand new HOTLINE colt! The first to be born in the USA. He is as beautiful and correct in his conformation as I could have dreamed. His dam is no slouch, though.....this is the foal of TAMARINDE, my JAZZ - MATADOR II - RUBINSTEIN - WELT AS mare who is in training with Jan Brons in Wellington. This colt (how about HOT JAZZ for a name??)was carried by Tamarinde's best friend, my lovely black Kiger mare. So, this solid black colt looks perfect beside her, and she loves him tremendously. We are so blessed.
HOT JAZZ has a super, big shoulder, gorgeous face and very long legs. Very exciting!

Farewell III wins the Bundes Championat for 6 yr. olds !
Many heartfelt congratulations to Zuchthof Klatte and Farewell's rider, Sandra Kotter, for a job well done! There was serious competition in the 6 year old division. and Farewell III put in tests of consistency, showing his power, suppleness and correct foundation.
We have had frozen semen from Farewell III for two seasons now (since he was 3 years), so positively strong was my opinion about him as a young horse. There are already super offspring in the U.S. with more to come this year. He is a B-I-G horse and I picture him blended with refined, ladylike mares.
10/20/2006
American Hanoverian Society Hi Score for Tamarinde !
Tam continued her winning ways by besting a field of 9 mares in the Non-Hanoverian Mare division at the recent AHS inspection here in Ocala. Her final score was 7.91 , with the high note of "9" for her Impulsion & Elasticity (also "9" for typiness,Femininity). I was told that it is perhaps the highest score in the country so far this year. We shall see.
Her barn mate, the KWPN mare "Preference" captured the exact same honors as Tam several years ago by being the SE Regional USDF DSBS Grand Champion, Highest scoring mare for the German Oldenburg Verband, then High score Non-Hanoverian for the AHS.
Tamarinde has an ET coming by the Hanoverian stallion "Hotline".
10/05/2006
Tamarinde and one of her grooms !
Tam particularly loves kids, and this is Shane Miller, who took good care of her at the show this past weekend.
09/18/2006
Tamarinde wins BIG at USDF Championships !!
It was a big weekend for Tam and me. These old bones were tired last night after two days of showing.
Sat. she won the Grand Championship of the Sunshine Sport Horse Breed Show to qualify for the SE Regional Championships Sunday. Her scores were high score for the show with an 84 and an 85 in the Dutch class !
On Sunday she was again Grand Champion of the USDFBC SE Regional Championship.
Her score of 86.25 was agin high score of the day, and the highest score I personally have ever known. She scored:
8.5 for conformation
9.0 for walk
8.5 for trot
8.5 for general impression
And, she LOVED being the show Queen!

Here is BARDOT at 2 months now!
This little jewel is my DON SCHUFRO - RUBINSTEIN - INSCHALLAH filly, BARDOT. BARDOT is SOLD.
08/28/2006
BARDOT - our 2006 filly by DON SCHUFRO - RUBINSTEIN
Finally, here is a photo of BARDOT (as in Bridget Bardot). She is by world class dressage horse DON SCHUFRO out of BELROSE (RUBINSTEIN - INSCHALLAH - ULTRASCHALL - FURIOSO II). She has had a stand up and look at me attitude since she was born - very people oriented and happy.......wonderful mover too. She has the beauty of her dam, with her wonderful Rubinstein - Inschallah type face and neck.
I am holding on to her older sister by ARGENTINUS, so will offer little BARDOT for sale now (UPDATE ....BARDOT is SOLD). She is very correct in her legs and overall conformation , super type and stamped with movement typical of DON SCHUFRO offspring.

The Queen Bee reviewing her troops on inspection day !!
Well, here I am, standing in my inimitable fashion (?), watching the mares and foals, making sure they are shown to their best. Photographer friend , Reg Corkum, caught me off guard. He was all over that arena taking photos! He did a particularly great job that day and caught each and every horse in a good shot. All of the following photos are by him and we all appreciate his documentation of the day so very much!

DREAM RUBINA new Premium mare
I am most excited and proud of the Premium status awarded to RUBINA , our homebred DREAM OF GLORY out of REINA H by RUBINSTEIN. She scored an overall 7.8 with highest notes for her quality of conformation, impulsion & elasticity, walk, general impression & development (8s). She scored 8 on her neck with 7.5s and 7s for all other conformation points.
All this was achieved with a big, powerful filly at her side too! Her dam line is an exceptional one, and she is following suit by producing a super filly as her first offering.
UPDATE: Rubina is in foal to Quaterback for 2008 - ultrasound shows a filly.

DREAM RUBINA 3 years old!!
My DREAM RUBINA was born at an odd time of the year - a November day. SO, technically she is 3 years and 8 months. She was an early maturing filly, strong and powerful; kind and peaceful. Since birth, her destiny has been to follow in the huge broodmare footsteps of her grand dam, HELENA (Trakehner by HERBSTSTURM - PREGEL - BORIS). Helena was my foundation mare and her quality as a producer has never been and will never be rivaled on this farm. RUBINA is so unbelievably like HELENA and the type of foals that Helen produced. Genetics amaze me, and it proves the tremendous value of a REALLY top broodmare. I was so proud that the judges recognized the quality of this young mare and awarded her Premium Mare status.
Thank you, HELENA ! We miss you still...

REINA H and her daughter FINALE
This is the first encounter of REINA and her biological daughter FINALE by FIRST HEINRICH. FINALE is an ET baby.....do I detect some maternal recognition????

FINALE by FURST HEINRICH x REINA H
This is FINALE with her ET dam. FINALE was one of the youngest foals at the inspection, but still managed to impress with her wonderful rhythym and elasticity. She was Premium awarded.

Bella Argentina
I don't think I have ever introduced you to BELLA ARGENTINA. This exquisite creature is by ARGENTINUS out of my mare, BELROSE ( RUBINSTEIN - INSCHALLAH - ULTRASCHALL - FURIOSO II - MIRACOLO xx)
This shows how ARGENTINUS makes dressage horses too!

This is why I love my KIGERS.....
This photo, taken by my friend Cookie, shows an incredible morning run with my Kiger stallion, WARRIOR and his band of mares. They are so awesome to watch, you have never witnessed such a peaceful, cohesive family of horses. It was a majical morning, where we once again hosted the well reknowned equine photographer, Bob Langrish from England. He had such success with the photos of of my Kigers that he took last year, that he had to come back for more!
Love my Kigers!

A blast from the past.......
This photo is of my first warmblood stallion, The Trakehner Beaute', who I purchased in 1975. He produced many wonderful offspring, noted for their fabulous characters, willingness to work and gentle natures, not to mention their all around athletic abilities. He had offspring successful in dressage to the highest levels, Combined training, hunters........ I received this note today and it made me smile. Thank you Bee Pape for being so thoughtful in writing about Miss Joy. She was one that I was sad to part with.
Judy, Do you remember Miss Joy we bought from you 20 plus years ago? She is now teaching the second generation to ride. Susie's daughter Julia, 12 years old, is the Oklahoma Dressage Society Reserve Champion Junior Rider recognized shows at Intro. Joy is a great mare and hopefully has many more years to teach beginners. Susie took her successfully up thru 3rd level before children and now Joy is on her second generation. A well bred horse is a joy forever. Take care, Bee Pape
